The first day was spent sailing in Howe Sound. The wind is consistently strong and the water is cold and not very salty due to the glaciers feeding the area.
Originally the plan was to sleep on board at the end of the day, but the local marina blocked that option, so I re-booked my hotel for a second night.
I met up with Ryan, and then Ben and Pete showed up and we all went aboard. Some quick instructions then we were off. Winds were about 25 knots and we probably should have run with a reef in the mainsail, but figured more would be more fun.
After sailing, I found myself with some time, so I went out to the very cute Squamish disc golf course. And then had a hamburger in the Howe Sound Brewing Pub. I also managed to stuff my bike into the car in preparation for the week it would be parked.
- The next day, sailing to Keats Island is HERE.
