Over time, I have settled on a standard packing list for traveling. And it is good to evolve them, as you realize what items are useful, which items are not used, and which items just aren’t worth their weight/bulk (for the given adventure). Here are some of my lists:
- Big Drive. (Stuff needed for a long drive of a week plus. Clothes and footwear for the expected activities, stuff for car camping mostly tenting and eating, stuff for dealing with expected and unexpected weather, and car emergency stuff)
- Tropical Travel. (Stuff for a trip to a tropical country. Expect to fly, and then be prepared for the expected activities. Travelling to Puerto Vallarta and Costa Rica is a good example of this type of trip)
