Since Christina Schobert was in town, we wanted to get a hiking trip in. Our usual haunts were all solidly booked, but we managed to book Waterton for a few days. It has been recovering from extensive forest fires, and most of the hiking trails had opened again.
Highlights for this trip were the Crypt Lake Hike, and the tame deer wandering around our campsite.
Photo Highlights
Day by Day (with links to Photos)
- Sunday, August 18: Drive to Waterton
- We didn’t bother leaving really early, just took our time. Lots of Prairie Driving, but there was no rush.
- Waterton Campground was busy, and way more rural and busier than we expected. After a poor initial impression, we settled into it, and came away with a more balanced opinion. The tame deer walking through the campground were awesome.
- Monday, August 19: Red Rock Canyon, Blakiston Falls and Bear’s Hump
- Tuesday, August 20: Akamina Pass, Buffalo Paddock
- Wednesday, August 21: Crypt Lake
- Christina decided to stay in town and do some easier hikes…
- Thursday, August 22: Drive to Cypress Hills
- Friday, August 23: Drive to Saskatoon
