Skiing

We do both downhill and xcountry skiing. Both are lots of fun. Similar, but totally different.

Downhill Skiing

We do regular trips to the Rockies to go downhill skiing. This is much more of a regular tourist type activity. We meet lots of people from around the world also skiing the Banff area. We also spend lots of money doing it. This is not a cheap sport.

We started Keiran young. Our ski trip is still a yearly highlight. We like to do the hard stuff, and don’t really care how well we do it.

The snow in the trees is always the best.

Looks like downhill to me!

Living in Saskatchewan, it is much easier for us to go xcountry skiing. We have snow on the ground for 6 months of the year. And it is flat. Downhill is not really an option. That said, our favourite places to ski are in the hills and trees about 2 hours north of Saskatoon. The hills make it a work out, and also give us good adrenaline rushes when you go zooming down the other side, the narrow trail weaving through the trees on you on narrow skis with no edges. Turning is hard. Slowing down is hard. The best solution is to fall down before you hit something hard.
