Skipper Cert 2021-07-24 – Day 3 – Lasqueti to French Creek

We thought we would head over to Nanaimo, but as the day progressed, the winds continued to die down to the south, so we chose to stay more north and went to French Creek instead.

Here is a quick look around the cabin of Tarka. The four of us fit in pretty easily, Ben having the most awkward berth, his head by the nav station and the rest of him wedged in under the cockpit.

We started out the day by jumping into the water to wake up. And jumped in the water multiple times during the day, even under sail with a rope (and the dingy) dragging behind us to grab onto.

We experimented with spinnakers in an attempt to delay the inevitable.

But by late afternoon, the wind wasn’t worth using so we motored the final couple hours. The restaurant in French Creek was closed for Covid but the beach was open. So we went for a swim and had a home cooked meal.
