The Spruce Creek Development
This is the developers promo web site http://www.delwebb.com/homefinder/Community.aspx?ID=100015 (hope it is still active by the time you try to reach it. They expect to complete the development of 3,200 houses by September 2005). To quote the blurb (skip this if you like) Spruce
Creek Country Club by Del Webb offers individuals, 55 years and better, a
peaceful, yet active and affordable community just outside of Ocala in Central
Florida. Ocala was hailed by Money Magazine as one of America's five "Best
Places to Live" because of its mild three-season climate, scenic beauty,
shopping, restaurants, medical facilities, low crime, and magnificent horse
farms. Our privacy-gated community offers an array of affordable homes in the perfect Central Florida location. Surrounded by the lush green hills, 200-year old oak trees and world famous horse farms, you'll find all of the amenities on your wish list for mind, body, and spirit. Eagle Ridge, out masterfully designed 36-hole championship golf course is a golfer's delight. Our new 14,000 square foot recreation center features tennis courts, softball fields, swimming pools, aerobics, dance studio, and state-of-the-art fitness equipment. We also offer over 80 clubs and organizations to fit every interest.
There are two main community facilities in Spruce Creek. One is the Fitness Center.
Again quoting the blurb: Enjoy our new 14,000 square-foot Lake Vista Fitness Center including state-of-the-art exercise equipment, indoor pool, and outdoor heated therapy spa. In addition, our new facility features aerobics and dance studios, horseshoe pits, and the Del E. Webb at Veterans Park softball complex. The hub of activity at is your lovely Horizon Club recreation center. It houses something for everyone. At the Horizon Club, you'll find the delectable Carmichael's Restaurant, and special rooms for cards, billiards, ping-pong and workshops. Did we mention our richly stocked library, full-sized community kitchen, and beautiful ballroom available to you during special events? Outside, you'll be drawn to the outdoor resort swimming pool, shuffleboard and tennis courts, and picnic area. And, of course, don't forget the golf!. I don't have a picture of this, but it is a nice facility. We went to see the development in February, while staying at Cedar Key. Went home, decided to go for it and returned in March.
