Spruce Creek

Our Lot

The choice of lots ranged from a standard one, basically with a small backyard, directly facing the neighbor on the next street, and various premium lots. One choice was to back onto the golf course, a view of open spaces, but restrictions on plantings, golf cart traffic fairly close to the house, and stray golf balls for which they have a waiver from liability for damage. A second choice was backing onto a 'nature preserve'. This turned out to be an area of scrub, not very wide, and anyway, the lots were all gone. The development had a few ponds, man made, for drainage stabilization, and some lots backed onto these. The premium for these was about $50,000 to $60,000. Another possibility was a new section opening up on a slight rise. These were significantly more expensive with a premium of about $100,000, but the view you got would be mostly the roofs of the rest of the development. We concentrated on the few lots backing onto a pond. Joyce was encouraged to see an egret on the shore and some ducks on the water. We chose the best of the four lots remaining around the Tamarron pond, for a premium of $63,000. (When we went back in October all the remaining lots on the pond had houses under construction.)

So this is the view across the back of our lot.
